"The Iraqi parliament speaker, who left Baghdad for Riyadh last (Monday) night, is slated to travel to Iran, Turkey and Qatar after his departure from Saudi Arabia," al-Jabouri’s advisor Vahdeh al-Jamili announced on Tuesday.
He pointed to al-Jabouri’s visit to Saudi Arabia, and said, "Al-Jabouri is trying to break the ice in Iraq’s relations with different countries and this is something that has been unprecedented in the last 10 years."
Al-Jabouri arrived in Riyadh last night on a 2-day visit to Saudi Arabia.
The Iraqi parliament speaker visited Iran in July to participate in the Inter-Parliamentary Union troika meeting on Palestine.
Last week, Iraqi Vice-President Nuri al-Maliki arrived in Tehran to confer on the latest regional developments, and explore new avenues for the further development of Tehran-Baghdad mutual cooperation.
Iran and Iraq have enjoyed growing ties ever since the overthrow of the former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, during the 2003 US invasion of the Muslim country.
