It is in the hearts and minds of the people that peace must be won, Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa told world leaders gathered in New York.
Now is the time for a new approach, "to deliver our message to the minds, hearts and homes of the peoples of the region", he said.
Shaikh Khalid reiterated the words of Crown Prince Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in an article in the Washington Post on July 16.
"É.peace is a process, contingent on a good idea but also requiring a great deal of campaigning – patiently and repeatedly targeting all relevant parties", said the Crown Prince.
The Arab world must communicate its initiatives to the Israeli people, through its own media, said Shaikh Khalid.
But he said the international community must also play its part, with greater political and diplomatic efforts.
