Addressing a meeting of the Technical Committee for Land Transport in the Federation of GCC Chambers, he explained that this company would have centres in all GCC countries. It would facilitate transport flow, organise cargoes and manage driver’s affairs such as issuing visas.
He also said that the committee had discussed the difficulties of land transport among GCC members and looked into the mechanism of potential merger between GCC transport companies.
Further he stressed the importance of the land transport sector for the economy. He said that around 900 trucks enter Qatar daily through Abu Samra frontier carrying varied cargoes and goods essential for the country. Qatar also uses this centre to export steel, petrochemicals and other products.
