This came as he received a delegation from the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) led by Frej Fennich, head of the Middle East and North Africa section.
Shaikh Khalid invited UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay to visit Bahrain.
The UN panel yesterday concluded their five-day official visit to the kingdom. Ms Pillay is expected to visit Bahrain later.
The two sides agreed to keep channels of communication open. The delegation lauded the Bahrain government’s openness and transparency in dealing with the OHCHR team.
The two sides also spotlighted key issues which were discussed with the government and non-governmental organisations towards promoting human rights in Bahrain.
