This First Deputy Premier speaking on ‘The role of the citizens in building society now and in future’ held at Ritz-Carlton Hotel, as part of the on-going Doha Cultural Festival.
Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem said that citizens have to play the major role in building society in order to make reform and the democracy drive a success. He said that reform and democracy are not the end but the means for ensuring a better future for the current and future generations as well as in achieving the social interest which is the interest of the people.
The Foreign Minister said the political authority has embarked on the process of the country’s building and development, a duty which would not end by setting the rules of the democratic rule, but further to adhere to implementing these rules in accordance with the constitution, urging the citizens to get acquainted with the rights within their constitutional and legal framework.
Qatar has taken some concrete steps to tackle the issue of inflation in the country through a committee formed for the purpose, which is headed by the Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, and some positive results are expected by the end of the year, said Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem added.
