Royal Decree No 27/2010 appoints non-resident ambassadors as follows: Article 1appoints Sayyid Mohammed bin Harib bin Abdullah al Said, Oman’s Ambassador to the Netherlands as the Sultanate’s non-resident ambassador to the Grand Duchy of Luxemburg. Article 2 appoints Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Zahir al Hinai, Oman’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom as the Sultanate’s non-resident ambassador to Lithuania. Article 3 appoints Dr Zainab bint Ali bin Said al Qasimiyah, Oman’s Ambassador to Germany as the Sultanate’s non-resident ambassador to Iceland and the Swiss Confederation. The decree took effect yesterday.
Royal Decree No 28/2010 amends some provisions of the Oman National Commission for Education, Culture and Science. Article 1 states that Articles (2) and (4) of the statute of Oman National Commission for Education, Culture and Science shall be replaced with the following texts: Article (2): “The Commission shall be formed under the chairmanship of the Minister of Education and includes the Under-Secretary of the Education Ministry for Education and Curricula, as deputy to the chairman; a representative in the rank of ‘Director-General’ from the ministries of Education, Manpower, Social Development, Higher Education, Foreign, Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, Information, Heritage and Culture, National Economy, Sports Affairs, Environment and Climate Affairs, Fisheries and the Sultan Qaboos University.
Four members of those interested in education, culture and sciences shall be appointed under a decision to be issued by the Chairman of the Commission. Their term will be three years, renewable. The Secretary of the commission acts as member and rapporteur. The Chairman of the Commission has the right to reconstitute it according to what is cancelled or introduced of ministries and authorities or the amendments made to their names.
Article (4): “The Chairman of the Commission may include the departments whose scope of work is related to the work of the commission. He may seek the assistance of experts and specialists to attend the sessions of the Commission and help carry out the assignments related to it. The decree comes into force from the day following its date of publishing in the gazette.
