The two premiers discussed the bilateral relations and reviewed aspects of co-operation in various areas.
Following the talks, the two prime ministers witnessed the signing of agreements.
The two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Astakos project, an energy project between the Qatari Ministry of Energy and Industry and the Greek Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change.
It was signed by HE the Minister of State for Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed Saleh al-Sada and Greece’s Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change Konstantina Birbili.
Dr al-Sada and Deputy Foreign Minister Spyros Kouvelis also signed a Memorandum of Understanding for strategic co-operation between the two sides.
An agreement to introduce amendments to some provisions of the air transport between the governments of Qatar and Greece was signed by HE the Minister of State for International Co-operation Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah, who is also Acting Minister of Business and Trade, and Greek Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks Nikolaos Sifounakis.
Another Memorandum of Understanding on co-operation between the Qatari and Greek governments in the tourism sector was signed by HE the chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) Ahmed Abdullah al-Nuaimi and Greece’s Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ageliki Gerekou.
The two sides signed as well a news exchange contract between Athens News Agency/Macedonia Press Agency/ and Qatar News Agency.
It was signed by HE the chief executive of Qatar Media Corporation and director general of Qatar News Agency Sheikh Jabor bin Youssef bin Jassim al-Thani and chief editor Nikolaos Voulelis.
The official talks were attended by members of the official delegation accompanying the Prime Minister, while on the Greek side they were attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Spyros Kouvelis, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ageliki Gerekou, Deputy Minister of infrastructure, transport and networks Nikolaos Sifounakis and Minister of Energy and environment Konstantina Birbili.
Earlier, Greek President Karolos Papoulias received HE the Prime Minister at the Presidential Palace here.
The Prime Minister conveyed the greetings of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani to the Greek president who reciprocated the greetings.
Talks dealt with bilateral relations and means of bolstering them and a host of other issues of mutual concern.
The meeting was attended by the members of the official delegation accompanying the Prime Minister and Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Spyros Kouvelis and a number of Greek government officials.
Later in the evening the Prime Minister left Athens concluding a two-day official visit to Greece. He was seen off at the Athens International Airport by Greek deputy foreign minister, Qatar’s Ambassador to Greece Hamad bin Abdullah al-Misnad, a number of Greek officials and the Qatari embassy’s staff.
