The Prime Minister held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi here yesterday. The meeting dealt with bilateral relations and matters of mutual concern.
Responding to a question, the Premier said the issue has been discussed, noting that he had listened to the Iranian foreign minister as he has heard from the other side.
AFP quoted the Prime Minster as saying: “We are part of the Gulf Co-operation Council, and we have an interest in the security and stability of Saudi Arabia. We hope that it is false. We still wait for evidence.”.
The United States claims that the Quds Force of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards plotted to kill the Saudi ambassador to Washington by hiring assassins from a Mexican drug cartel for $ 1.5mn.
An Iranian-American accused of involvement in the plot pleaded not guilty in a New York court last week.
Iran has strongly denied any involvement.
