The Palestinian Red Crescent will co-ordinate with the QRC’s office in Ramallah in deciding the quantities of medicines required on a priority basis, the QRC said in Doha yesterday.
It is hoped that this urgent humanitarian measure on the part of the QRC will alleviate the sufferings of the Palestinians in Gaza. However, the situation is quite serious because of the large number of patients in hospitals who have been left in the lurch without the required medicines and facilities for treatment.
As many as 750 who require urgent surgery for various ailments have been barred from leaving Gaza Strip.
The medicines will be transported into Gaza by heavy vehicles belonging to the International Red Cross Society.
