Talking to reporters following the official talks held between Qatar and Vietnam, the Prime Minister said that the recent visit by the Emir
H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to Chad and Libya was in continuation to Qatar’s mediation efforts for paving a positive atmosphere to reach a framework accord guaranteeing ceasefire in Darfur.
“Such understanding between Sudan and Chad will help resolve the Darfur crisis,” the Prime MInister told reporters.
Asked about the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant for Sudanese President Omar Hassan Al Bashir and its impact on the course of negotiations between the warring factions and the Sudanese government, the Prime Minister said: “We as mediators are unsatisfied at the resolution of the ICC and this would not dissuade us to continue such a mediation.”
