Speaking on the sidelines of the conference of the Friends of Libya in Doha yesterday,al-Attiyah said that Qatar had liaised between the rebels and Nato. “Qatari land and air forces helped the rebels in Libya whereas Qatari warplanes supported Nato forces in checking Gaddafi troops and in protecting civilians.”
Qatar, he said, had supervised the rebels’ plans “because they are civilians and did not have enough military experience”. He said: “We acted as the link between the rebels and Nato forces.”
