A prominent lawyer, meanwhile, said it is difficult to guess when the new sponsorship rules would be made applicable. "We expect the law to be out soon but it is difficult to say when," said Mohsin Theyab Al Suwaidi. The draft has already been approved by the Advisory Council, he said. Not only the Advisory Council but also the Cabinet has ratified the draft, said social activist and businessman Hassan Al Jefairi.
People continue to speculate over the possible contents of the proposed law, he said. There are differing views about its possible provisions.
