Republic Day celebrations in Bahrain

. The embassy officials, dignitaries and community leaders of various organizations were present in the morning where children from various Indian schools rendered patriotic songs on the occasion, while the ambassador read out the President’s speech.
Students and officials at the Indian school, Bahrain, also hoisted the Indian flag (by school chairman Abraham John) where more than 1000 guests, school children, parents and executive committee members were present.

Meanwhile, in keeping with tradition, ambassador Mohan Kumar hosted a reception at the Gulf Hotel for ministers, diplomats, VIPS and leading businessmen. Bahrain’s foreign minister Sheikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Al Khalifa was the chief guest at the function.

Besides this, the CBSE section of the Al Noor School sang patriotic songs and presented an Incredible India performance at their premises in Sitra while the Karnataka Social club held a ‘Face of India’ contest for members, followed by dinner.

Other leading clubs to join in celebrations at their respective organizations were the Gurudeva Social society, the Kerala Catholic Association and the Indian club in Manama.
The Co-ordination Committee of Indian Associations also held their program at the Indian school which featured a magic show, a parade, band performance and Arabic dance shows. Bahrain labor minister Jameel Humaidan was also present on the occasion and voiced the strong contribution of the Indian community as well as the labor force working here on the island.

Apart from these celebrations marking the Republic Day, the Lulu Hypermarket launched its annual ‘Festival of India’ program at its outlet wherein ambassador Mohan Kumar officially inaugurated the event at the Ramli Mall in A’ali village.

This festival will run until February 5 at Lulu’s outlet at Ramli Mall, Dana Mall where shoppers will be treated to special Indian goods and cuisine. Puppeteers from Rajasthan as well as bangle makers and sellers will be present there to showcase Indian talent and products. A glass blower will also showcase his skills along with kites on display to show Indian heritage for this one week.
