The Saudi leaders were quoted by culture and information minister Abdulaziz Khoja as hoping the suffering of the Syrian people would end as soon as possible.
They said Islam was a religion of mercy, forgiveness and dialogue as well as positive contributions to society.
They affirmed that Saudi Arabia would remain a staunch defender of Islam and would stand against all those inciting sedition.
