The Arab state won a seat on the council yesterday but has today accused the body of "double-standards".
The Saudi Foreign Ministry has issued a statement saying it had no other option but to turn down Security Council membership until the body is reformed and given the means to accomplish its duties in preserving the world’s peace and security.
