This issue has attracted the attention of individuals in the Middle East and the Kingdom in particular.

Saudi Gazette approached 25 Saudi youths in Riyadh for a quick survey on who they wanted to be the next US president. Some of the young men declined to participate either because they were not interested in politics or because they prefered to focus on local issues.

The majority of participants said they were following the elections because the US was a great power that has an enormous influence on world affairs and was a friend of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Most of them said they would prefer Barack Obama to be reelected when Americans will throng the polling booths Tuesday. Obama is being challenged by Republican Mitt Romney.

Miree Al-Qahtani, 24, a private sector employee, said: “I prefer Obama because most Americans support him.”

Saeed Al-Saqri, 27, a male nurse, said: “I want Obama because he has a humble personality.”

Ibrahim Al-Qhatani, 22, a college student, said: “I like Obama because he is a great speaker and good at making promises, although he has not achieved as much as he said he would.”

Muhammad Al-Olayyan, 30, a military employee, said: “I hope Obama wins because he has a charismatic personality and is loved by his people.”
