A GCC official told KUNA following the meeting that Serry suggested that the fund will be funded by donors, including the GCC countries, and managed by the UN and the Palestinian Authority.
Asked about the GCC reaction to Serry’s proposal, the official said "we have to get more details and study it further." Serry told the Security Council earlier in the day that regrettably, Israel has not responded to the Secretary-General’s proposal earlier this year for UN-led civilian reconstruction activities.
The GCC official also said that Serry expressed doubt that the tripartite meeting among US President Barack Obama, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Bingjamin Netanyahu would take place on the sidelines of the General Assembly’s meetings next week.
