The council, established last May, is responsible for formulating policies and standards for Emiratisation and supporting the development of skills and inculcating competitiveness among nationals.
The sitting was chaired by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, and Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, were present.
The Cabinet also approved the formation of a council for Emirati companies with investments overseas. It is to help such companies in their decision-making processes with up-to-date indicators of UAE investments all over the world.
Further, the Cabinet sanctioned an Emirati standard for plastic bags and other plastic materials. The standard aims at specifying requirements for such bags — within the government’s policy of maintaining public health and environmental safety by curbing the use plastic and replacing them with biodegradable materials.
The Cabinet okayed a move to upgrade UAE’s diplomatic representation in Uzbekistan from a consulate to an embassy in Tashkent. The move reflects the UAE’s keenness to strengthen friendship and cooperation with Uzbekistan.
The Cabinet agreed a decision to provide a financial grant to the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s plans for air safety in Africa.
The Cabinet members reviewed a proposal on the country’s participation in the 15th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change to be held on December 7 and 8.
