Five of them died immediately and the sixth later in Salmaniya Medical Complex, sources told the GDN.
The impact of the crash was so severe that the front portion of the Toyota car was completely crushed.
Two sets of sisters and their two friends were reportedly out on the road enjoying their weekend, the sources said.
The victims were identified as sisters Tahera and Ghaida Abdulameer from Sehla; sisters Mariam and Fatima Abduljaleel from Al Hajar village; Marwa Makki Al Sari from Karbabad; and Roqaya Ahmed Abbas, who died in the hospital.
The tearful mother of Tahera and Ghaida rushed to the scene of the accident after hearing of the tragedy.
Meanwhile, a Bahraini driver was injured when a truck loaded with ceramics crashed into his car on Al Estiqlal Highway at 4.30pm yesterday.
The Arab truck driver sustained minor injuries.
