“Husam al-Hadad was killed due to a severe strike on his head by eight passengers onboard a vehicle belonging to Bahrain’s Interior Ministry,” Mohammad Jassim al-Haddad said in an exclusive interview with the Al-Alam news channel on Monday.
He said he had called on the Interior Ministry officials to open a probe into the killing of his son, arguing that Husam was not killed by shooting, but beaten severely to death.
According to the constitution, I have the right to file a complaint against the perpetrators, he noted. "If the Judiciary of Bahrain does not allow me to lodge a complaint, I will file a lawsuit against my son’s murderers outside the country."
The 16-year-old was beat to death for attending a peaceful demonstration in Manama and holding up Palestine’s flag to mark the International Quds Day and show solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Bahrain’s Interior Ministry confirmed Haddad’s death following the incident.
Scores of people have been killed and many others injured in the Saudi-backed crackdown on the peaceful protests in Bahrain.
Bahraini protesters have been holding demonstrations against the ruling Al Khalifa family since February 2011 and they hold King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa responsible for the deaths of demonstrators during the uprising.
