Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad and visiting Qatari Amir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, during a meeting held earlier today, discussed Arab affairs, as well as distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries and necessity of enhancing them, a presidential statement said here.
Both Arab leaders underscored determination to continue exerting efforts to protect the Arab people’s interests and rights and discuss steps that should be taken before the upcoming Arab Summit in Doha, the statement added.
Sheikh Hamad, who arrived here earlier on an unannounced short visit, is accompanied by Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassem Bin Jabr Al- Thani.
Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah is, however, expected to visit Syria tomorrow coming from Jordan, where he is to convey a letter from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to the Syrian president.
