The course is aimed at training newly appointed inspectors as per the requirements of the Labour Inspection Manual, said Hamad bin Khamis al Aamri, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Manpower for Technical Education and Vocational Training, said.
Oman has implemented most of the agreements signed with the ILO, which has been recognised and praised by ILO experts, he added. Saleh bin Ayel al Aamri, Director of Labour Welfare at the Ministry of Manpower, in a speech pointed out that the ministry has prepared a plan to develop labour inspection and make it modern and comprehensive. Sifa Aljandram, Adviser at the ILO, highlighted the importance of the course for labour inspectors.
It will discuss the legal requirements that should be implemented by labour inspectors, the application of labour law in the private sector, the duties of labour inspectors, labour inspection strategies and policies and the importance of labour management for labour inspectors. The course will also highlight the role of labour inspectors in boosting Omanisation, collecting information on the labour market as well as their role in human trafficking issues and ways to control it. It will also discuss the role of media in combating human trafficking and the importance of communications among labour inspectors, security officers and immigration officials, besides the basics of the ILO agreement.
