Emirati authorities apprehended members of the terrorist group, which was attempting to jeopardize security in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and "other brother countries," the state-run WAM news agency said in a statement on Wednesday.
The group had "imported material and equipment with the aim of committing terror acts," the statement added.
Members of the group, which is said to be organized by al-Qaeda, are Emirati and Saudi Arabian citizens.
It "looks like it is a big one, mainly because it includes Emirati citizens and is not confined to the UAE but also has a regional dimension," Emirati political analyst Abdulkhaleq Abdullah said.
In July, the Persian Gulf state said it had dismantled a group plotting against its national security. However, the number of arrests and the members’ affiliation were not announced.
At the time, Salem Said Kabish, the UAE’s prosecutor general, stated that the members of the group “aimed at damaging the security of the state."
