UAE permanent representative to the UN Ambassador Obaid Salem Al Zaabi told the Durban Review Conference that the Palestinian people are still under occupation and are suffering on a daily basis because of discrimination which is reflected in collective punishment, the excessive use of force and other measures.

Libyan European Commissioner Abdel Ati Ibrahim Al Abeidi said that the position vis-a-vis the Israeli entity is not an anti-Semitic stand as some say but because of its racist measures and violations of human rights and its refusal for the right of return for the Palestinian people and the sight of self-determination.

He expressed hope that the countries that have boycotted the conference would exert pressure on the Israelis to put an end to those measures and their violations of the human rights of the Palestinians and call upon the international community to condemn it.

The permanent representative of Lebanon to the UN in Geneva Ambassador Najla Riachi Assaker said that her country believes in the peace process and the Arab peace initiative.

She stressed that Lebanon insists that Israel withdraws from all Arab occupied territories and notes the right pf the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to establish its independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Assaker said that such a peace will not stabilize without the removal of wall of hatred and the need to recognize mutual legitimate sovereignty.
