Mohammed Rashid al-Shehhi, owner of majan.net, has already faced three other defamation suits for articles on his website.
An appeal court last month quashed two prison sentences totalling 17 months against him after the officials who sued him dropped their complaints.
In a third ruling, a court ordered the closure of the website and imposed a one-year suspended jail term on Shehhi.
Emirati Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum decreed in September that journalists should not be jailed over their work. It is not known if the order applies to electronic sites.
