The Emirates ID took the action after taking into consideration the conditions of those who have not been able to register yet so as to help them avoid delay fees. Emirates ID has earlier affirmed that registration of this category all over the UAE should be made before October 1, 2012, and said the three-day grace period has been given in response to appeals of segment of parents who have missed the deadline of registering their children in the ID and Population Register programme.
This excludes the resident children whose residence visas expire before December 31, 2012, provided that this category will be registered by the time of renewal of their residence visas before the year end.
The Emirates ID clarified that the overwhelming rush of applicants to typing centres over the last days of the deadline had put strain on the e-payment system and some clients failed to finalise fee payment in these centres.
The authority urged parents to seize the new grace period to expedite registration of their children through more than 1200 typing centres across the country.
