“The move follows the Ministry finding that most of the cases are not based on real or significant reasons, but rather crop up due to misunderstanding or casual reactions between the two parties,” said Humaid Rashid bin Deemas, Acting Director-General of the Ministry of Labour at a ceremony held
here on Monday for the opening the new headquarters of the Labour Relations Department.
The opening ceremony was attended by Qasim Jameel, director of the Department, and CEO for support services at the Ministry, Dr Aysha
bin Bishr.
“The Ministry has deliberately set up the new headquarters near the Labour Court at Mazeed Shopping Centre in Mussafah, to alleviate the hardship of the workers who are obliged to report to both the Labour Relations Department and the Court,” he noted.
As many as 18 law and other researchers are working in Natawasal facility, he said, and ordered appointing Emirati receptionists in the building to boost the localisation of jobs.
“Researchers at Natawasal last month settled about 80 per cent of complaints lodged by workers or employers without being referred to the legal researchers or to the Labour Court,” he recalled.
Bin Deemas said that the Ministry had shortened the period of looking into the complaints to only one day from the date of being registered, they are then passed on to the legal researchers for study and for listening to the parties concerned.
“Researchers have been trained well by the experts and legal advisors at the Judicial Training Institute for the difficult mission assigned to them,” he said, adding that the researchers are trained to negotiate and convince.
The Ministry, according to him, will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Judicial Training Institute to train more researchers.
“The Ministry is in talks with the judicial departments in the country to reach integrated partnership to unify the verdicts issued by the competent courts,” he said.
