This was hinted at by the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in an interview with Spanish News Agency on the occasion of the visit of King Juan Carlos of Spain to the UAE.
“We are confident that the visit of King Juan Carlos would contribute significantly to our warm friendship and bilateral cooperation. Moreover, it would widen the scope of cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries,” Shaikh Khalifa pointed out.
The UAE President expressed disappointment over the deteriorating situation in the Palestinian territories as a result of the continued aggression, occupation and the Israeli siege in Gaza and the West Bank.
“Peace will not be achieved unless Israel accepts the Arab peace initiative that is based on the UN Security Council resolutions, calling for complete Israeli withdrawal from all Palestinian and Arab territories occupied in 1967, the establishment of the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as the capital and return of Palestinian refugees,” he emphasised.
