“The MoL 2008 Guiding Plan is aimed at delivering the needed information and knowledge the employers and workers need to streamline the labour market,” said Jameel.

The plan focuses on spreading awareness among the employees and companies about a respectable and healthy working environment for workers that will positively effect on the productivity and profits.

Meanwhile, sources at the MoL said the plan will include awareness campaigns to promote healthy relations between workers and employers.

The Guiding Section staff will send messages to the sponsors and employers, related to issuance of the employment visa, issuance and renewal of labour cards, payment of health insurance for workers in addition to provision of suitable accommodation and decent work places.

The plan also emphasises the importance of opening bank accounts for workers to ensure that the employers pay the wages regularly and in time.

“The inspectors will deliver lectures to the workers to inform them about their rights and explain them the regulations and punishments under the law. The awareness campaigns will help spread the culture of respect for the workers,” said the sources.
