”The United States – United Arab Emirates Agreement for Peaceful Nuclear Cooperation supports a new global gold standard for the development of peaceful, civilian nuclear energy, by countries that need nuclear energy for their economic development, Al Otaiba said.
”It also enhances the already deep strategic relationship between the UAE and the United States, the UAE envoy said.
”We appreciate our work with the Bush Administration to develop the agreement, with the Obama Administration to refine it, and with the U.S. Congress to review it all successful steps that enable the UAE and US to bring the agreement into force,” he added.
”With the commercial selection process now nearing completion, the UAE will move into its implementation phase. We look forward to expanding our partnerships to work closely with a range of companies, experts and government officials, which represent the highest standards of safety, security, transparency and non-proliferation,”he concluded.
”Together, we can show the world that countries can gain the benefits of nuclear energy while preserving global security.”
