‘We will work for peace and security’: Qatar’s prime minister

Talking to reporters in Addis Ababa yesterday, the prime minister noted that (the idea of) his visit to Ethiopia came during a meeting in London in February this year with the late prime minister of Ethiopia Meles Zenawi.
“Progress towards peace comes through development. We are here to co-operate with Ethiopia in all fields,” he said.
On the latest situation in Syria, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim said that Syrian opposition figures are currently convening in Doha, stressing that Qatar is keen on uniting all Syrian opposition groups.
The Prime Minister said he will be meeting the Syrian opposition today “to reach some progress on the Syrian issue”.
He said the only way out of the repression, annihilation, destruction and genocide of Syrian people by the Syrian government, is to unite the Syrian people.
Meanwhile, Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn hailed relations with Qatar in the fields of agriculture, economy and investment.
He stressed his country’s eagerness to co-operate with Qatar as well as to open up paths for investment between the two countries.
“Qatar is highly experienced and has major capabilities in investments in agricultural and tourism sectors, and Ethiopia will offer all necessary facilities in these sectors”, the Ethiopian prime minister said.
He added that Ethiopia shares with Qatar concerns of regional peace and security.
