UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon last night welcomed the call by His Majesty King Hamad to resume second round of talks among different political factions in Bahrain.
Germany earlier joined calls by Britain, France and the US in welcoming the move.
The UN chief commended the King’s invitation, describing the royal initiative as "an important step towards reforms that ensure justice and human rights for all Bahrainis".
He urged all Bahrainis to contribute to creating a conducive atmosphere for a successful dialogue. He expressed the hope that the national dialogue would be well-prepared, fully inclusive and addresses the legitimate aspirations of the Bahraini people.
The UN chief commended the affirmative response of political societies and other associations.
Earlier in the day, German Ambassador Sabine Taufmann said the decision would create an "environment of trust" to reach national reconciliation.
"We encourage all relevant actors to accept this invitation and to swiftly and inclusively engage in such a process in order to resolve the political conflict in Bahrain."
Britain’s Foreign Office Minister for the Middle East and North Africa Alistair Burt earlier said: "I welcome the announcement by the government of Bahrain that the Justice Minister will be meeting all political societies in Bahrain to resume National Dialogue. With the second anniversary of the 2011 unrest approaching, this is an important time for the country.
"The UK government is committed to supporting all attempts at reconciliation in Bahrain to help bring about long-term stability for the country and its people.
"I encourage all sides to use this opportunity for genuine and inclusive dialogue to play a constructive role in resolving the political situation."
