Chanting, “Death to America” and “Death to Israel,” protesters took to the streets of Sa’ada after Friday prayers in another show of anger against the US. They demanded an end to the Washington’s meddling in Yemen.
The demonstrators also accused Washington of preventing the fulfillment of the demands of their 2011 popular uprising.
Yemenis have been holding regular rallies across the country against the US since it pushed for a power-sharing deal in Yemen in November 2011 to end ousted dictator Ali Abdullah Saleh’s decades-long rule .
The deal gave Saleh immunity from prosecution in return for an immediate handover of power. Saleh, who ruled Yemen for 33 years, stepped down in February 2012 after nearly a year of mass street protests against his rule.
Yemenis demand that Saleh be brought to justice for his role in deadly crackdowns during the revolution.
They have vowed to continue protests until there is a complete regime change in Yemen.
