During the Nato-GCC Strategic Dialogue Forum which started on Tuesday in Manama and was organised by the International Institute for Strategic Studies, Al Zayani stressed that the free flow of energy supplies through the waterways in the Arabian Gulf is a major factor to avoid economic and industrial collapse in many countries that rely on energy supplies from the Gulf states.
He also pointed to the importance of providing comprehensive protection for the waterways in the GCC in co-operation with the naval forces of GCC and the allied and friendly countries, stressing the need to take the Iranian threats to close the Strait of Hormuz into account.
The GCC believes that its security is indivisible and any threat or use of force against any member state is an aggression on all states, Al Zayani added.
“We feel reassured, as the security and stability of the GCC is firmly maintained thanks to our own capabilities and cooperation of the allies,” he added.
