The conduct of the State of Kuwait set a good example for other countries in peaceful solving of disputes, he said in an address to a UN Security Council session.

Zebari also thanked the UNSC member states for voting unanimously to get Iraq partially out of Chapter VII of the UN Charter and put the issue of the missing Kuwaitis and property under the jurisdiction of the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).

The Iraqi government is committed to settling this humanitarian file as well as the maintenance of Kuwaiti-Iraqi border marks and the compensations (for the victims of the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990), he underlined.

Zebari promised that his country will work for closer ties and stronger cooperation with Kuwait in the coming period, noting that today is "a historic day in the development of the exemplary bilateral relations."
