Minister of state for foreign affairs Ghenem Al-Buainain, addressing a joint meeting of GCC foreign and finance ministers, said there should be a firm stance against transforming Syria into a battle field and a place to achieve ambition of "regional or international countries." He accused Iran and Hezbollah of clearly interferring with arms in the Syrian conflict, which escalated hostilities that killed thousands of Syrian people.
Al-Buainain said Iran and Hezbollah "do not respect the rights of neighboring countries, principles of Islam, international legitimacy and agreements." He said the Arab countries should unify their positions vis-a-vis the Palestinian cause, calling for an active Gulf role to helping the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He also called on Iran to respect good neighborliness principles and settle disputes peacefully, including its occupation of three UAE’s islands and to answer Abu Dhabi’s repeated calls to end the occupation through direct negotiations or international arbitation.
Al-Buainain urged Iran to stop provocations against GCC countries, and brush aside doubts over its nuclear program.
He said the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries welcomed Yemeni president Abdo Rabbu Mansour Hadi’s launch of the national dialogue in line with the GCC initiative.
the GCC finance and economy ministers held a meeting prior to this joint council, during which they discussed economic integration among the Arab Gulf countries.
