Referring to the threats posed to a number of the opponents of al-Khalifa ruling family in the UK, Abdul Raouf al-Shayeb said the UK cannot ignore the Arab regime’s tempting financial offers or its common interests with Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
He also said the British regime is just like the dictatorial regimes of the Persian Gulf Arab states that violate the human rights when they see their interests in danger.
Al-Shayeb further said that the UK government always attacks the Bahraini opponents, adding that they introduce a human rights activist as a terrorist in their media in order to tarnish the image of the opposition.
Referring to his situation, he said the UK has banned him from travelling abroad and has taken other actions against him.
He also stressed that UK treats any Muslim foreigner as a terrorist as if the British people were the only ones who are clean of terrorist actions.
Al-Shayeb said it is weird how "the British people who attack Muslim countries and send arms and soldiers to kill Muslims are not terrorists, and we that unveil their crimes in various countries are the terrorists".
Anti-government protesters have been holding peaceful demonstrations across Bahrain since mid-February 2011, calling for an end to the al-Khalifa dynasty.
Violence against the defenseless people escalated after a Saudi-led conglomerate of police, security and military forces from the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) member states – Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar – were dispatched to the tiny Persian Gulf kingdom on March 2011, to help Manama crack down on peaceful protestors.
So far, hundreds of protesters have been killed, hundreds more have gone missing and thousands of others have been injured.
