GCC firms get nod to open branches

After the meeting, HE the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Nasser bin Mohamed bin Abdulaziz al-Thani said in a statement that the cabinet approved a draft law allowing the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) corporate companies to open branches in Qatar and decided to forward it to the Advisory Council.


It was decided to “take necessary action” to issue a draft decree-law authorising ratification of the Development and Fiscal Agreement (DFA) signed between the government, Qatar Petroleum (QP) and ExxonMobil Barzan.

The cabinet reviewed a letter by the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs on the annual report of the achievements of the Institute of Administrative Development (IAD) for the financial year 2010-11 and took an appropriate decision.

It was also decided to take necessary measures to ratify:

A) A convention on mutual administrative assistance to enable the proper application of customs law to prevent, investigate and combat customs crimes between the Qatar and Moroccan governments;

B) A protocol on cultural co-operation over restoration of castles, forts, archaeological sites and historical monuments in Qatar with the Moroccan government; and
C) An agreement between Qatar and France on the training of Qatari specialist-practitioners in France.
