Security sources said the other inmate used a knife to stab Al-Naqi in the neck, chest and arm. Sources confirmed Al-Naqi is now confined at the Central Jail Hospital and his condition is stable.
Sources disclosed the other inmate is serving time for killing his cousin and for his involvement in a State Security case, in which he was charged with traveling to Iraq to fight some coalition forces. Sources affirmed the concerned jail officials have intensified their efforts to prevent the recurrence of the incident in the future.
In a related development, sources from the Interior Ministry have refuted rumors that First Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Humoud resigned after the Shiite lawmakers threatened to grill him on the stabbing of Al-Naqi inside the Central Jail.
