The half-day symposium will focus on the country’s natural tourist attractions including caves, beaches and wadis, conserved national heritage projects and resources, water sports, tourism strategy and the many mega tourism schemes planned to be carried out in the coming years. Oman Travel Market (OTM), which will be officially inaugurated by Muscat Municipality President Abdullah bin Abbas bin Ahmed, is the Sultanate’s only travel and tourism fair.
Organised by Oman International Trade and Exhibitions (OITE) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Unesco. The exhibition will be broadly divided into four pavilions — ‘Discover Oman’, featuring inbound tourism within the country, ‘International’, promoting intra-regional and outbound tourism, ‘Tourism Investment’, with the focus on investment in real estate, and ‘Medical Tourism’ that will project travel for health.
“The show is organised in line with the developments taking place in the Sultanate’s tourism industry," OITE Managing Director Ahmed bin Saleh Baabood said, adding: "The rapid growth in the travel and tourism market in Oman has put this event in the spotlight, and the participants include hotels, resorts, airlines, travel and tour operators, health centres and providers of other tourism related services.”
More than 35 exhibitors from the UAE, Thailand, Austria, Malaysia, Bahrain, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, India and Turkey, besides Oman, are taking part. Baabood said the fair aimed to familiarise citizens and residents in the Sultanate and foreign tourists with major tourist potentials in the various governorates and regions of the country and highlight the facilities offered by Oman for investment in the sector.
