This was disclosed by the leader of the terrorist cell 94 in his confessions to the investigating officials.
The terrorist revealed that Al-Qaeda in the Kingdom had planned to carry out the plot that was hatched outside the Kingdom. Investigations pointed to evidence that Saad Al-Fakieh, a London-based terrorist, was the mastermind of the plot.
He was involved in planning the attacks in cooperation with the terror cell chief and offered funding for them.
The terrorist’s confessions also pointed to Al-Fakieh’s attempts to instigate and trigger disturbance and demonstrations in selected cities in the Kingdom with an evil design to undermine the nation’s security and stability as well as to create anarchy.
There were 94 members in the cell, headed by the terrorist, and these members were divided into three subsidiary cells.
Each cell was tasked with targeting oil installations, equipping terrorists, and carrying out assassinations. The cell had also planned to attack the eastern port of Ras Al-Khair.
