Authorities sought to clarify the law after receiving a number of complaints from women who have been barred from entering Kuwait along with their husbands, the Kuwait Times reported.
Director of the immigration authority, Kamel Al-Awadhi, told border administrators that all sea, land and air border access points must allow wives of GCC residents entry into the country, as per decisions made by interior ministers.
In May last year, Kuwait blacklisted nationals from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan and Afghanistan, stopping them from coming into the Gulf state over fears that political unrest in those nations could pose a risk to Kuwait’s security.
