Israel kills former Palestinian detainee in West Bank

A former Palestinian detainee was killed on Saturday after an Israeli airstrike hit a vehicle in the occupied West Bank.

The Gaza Health Ministry revealed two Palestinians were killed south of Jenin, including Abdul Hadi Issam Alawneh.

Alawneh was released under the November 2023 prisoner-captive deal, where 240 Palestinian detainees were freed in exchange for 105 civilian captives.

The strike comes as Israel continues its military offensive, dubbed “Iron Wall”, in the West Bank town for the 13th consecutive day, killing at least 25 Palestinians, with the army expanding to Tulkarm, killing three civilians and now Tammun in Nablus.

As Israel’s war on Gaza has come to a ceasefire, its forces have redirected their assaults on the occupied West Bank.
