"Iran’s constructive role in the restoration of stability and security to the region is known to all countries," the Omani foreign minister said during the meeting.
He underlined that terrorist and extremist groups pose a serious threat to all the regional countries, and said, "Vigilance, cooperation and consultation among the regional countries is the only way to combat terrorism and extremism."
Amir Abdollahian, for his part, said that the outstanding features of the Iran-Oman relations require optimum utilization of all the existing capacities in line with the interests of the two countries and the region.
The Iranian deputy foreign minister pointed to the activities of the terrorist groups in the region, and said, "Uprooting extremism in the region is the prerequisite to serious confrontation with terrorism."
Last month, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Omani counterpart in a meeting in Muscat warned against the rise of terrorist moves in the region.
During the meeting held on the sidelines of trilateral talks among Zarif, his US counterpart John Kerry and EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton in Oman’s capital, the Iranian and Omani foreign ministers underlined the need for confronting the spread of terrorism in the region.
Zarif and Bin Alawi also discussed the activities of terrorist groups in the region, and called for collective efforts to uproot terrorism in the Middle East.
The two officials also discussed other regional and international developments, and stressed the need for enhancement of all-out ties between the two countries.
