Ayatollah Hamedani said in a meeting with the directors of ‘Al-Mostafa Society’ Islamic University in Iran’s Central city of Qom on Saturday that the Saudi Wahhabi regime is making huge investments in spreading Takfirism and striking Shiite Muslims.
He also stressed that Islam is a religion for all aspects of life, adding that the world arrogant powers and enemies of Islam have started widescale campaign against Shiite Muslims to alienate people from Shiism and Islam.
The Ayatollah underlined the importance of unity among Shiite and Sunni Muslims, and warned of enemies’ attempts to sow discord among Islamic denominations.
Late last month, Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi said the unwise and extremist ideology of the Wahhabi sect in Saudi Arabia has created and supported regional terrorist groups, including Al-Qaeda and the ISIL.
"In addition to the oil income, the Saudis gain a huge amount of money each year from the Hajj pilgrims and spend lots of it propagating for the Wahhabi sect and for strengthening the terrorist groups in the recent years," said the grand Ayatollah in a meeting with a group of scholars.
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi also condemned allocation of high budget to publication of anti-Shiite books by the Al Saud regime, and said a book published by the Saudis in Indonesia in 5 million copies costing at least $1.5mln.
He further underlined the close relations between the Wahhabis and the Takfiri terrorists, and said the ISIL is a fruit of the Wahhabi mentality.
"The crimes committed by the ISIL are unmatched throughout history, and not even comparable with the crimes of the Mongolian tribe, or the other blood thirsty criminals of history, as the ISIL crimes are the worst," he said.
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi said that the good point is that the world nations are unanimously aware about the criminal nature of the Takfiri terrorists and the need to encounter them, which is why the ISIL is in a very bad status today.
International and regional observers’ reports have disclosed the Saudis’ financial and military role in escalation and supporting of the terrorist groups in the region.
Insurgency in Syria has been led and supported by the Saudi intelligence since 2011.
The Saudi regime and Takfiri mentality were also behind spread of new waves of extremism in Iraq by the ISIL.
