GCC FMs discussed variety of issues in frank, transparent manner

Addressing a joint news conference with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) secretary general Abdulrahman Al-Attiyah, Al-Mahmoud brushed aside reports the prepartory meeting for the GCC 28th summit, due in the Qatari capital on December 3-4, witnessed disputes over the agenda.

"We have reach common views over lots of issues and reports which were referred by the committees to the ministerial council," ahead of referring them to the GCC summit, he said.

Al-Attiyah said the foreign ministers reviewed, among other matters, a host of economic, social and educational issues.

The foreign ministers, he added, have also discussed the situations in the Palestinian territories, Iraq, the Iranian nuclear program and the relations between Tehran and the international community in this respect.

The top diplomats, said Al-Attiyah, also discussed draft resolutions concerning the monetary union, the custom union and the common Gulf market.
