"Multicultural education creates equal educational opportunities for students from diverse racial/ethnic communities, social class, cultural and religious groups", she stated.
Tracing her personal history growing up in the US, Dr Larke pointed to the social circumstances that brought her to the realization of the disparity of opportunities, especially in education, for people in the black communities. This she said led her to advocating for ME as a powerful tool that could bring about real social change not only in her country but worldwide. In reference to Qatar, Dr Larke said that its culture of diversity gave the country a significant advantage in promoting the tenets of multicultural education.
