He said that since the law bans tribal elections, he will not hesitate in arresting his own son, and referring him to the public prosecution, if found participating in such elections. He questioned all those MPs the reason why they agreed to such a law in the first place if they were opposed to it.
He said once a law has been enforced by the Ministry of Interior, it has to abide by it and is applicable to all irrespective – in accordance to the dictates of the public prosecution. He advised all candidates and former MPs in opposition to call for a change in law after the current parliamentary election and forward the request to the new Parliament in office through a vote, reported Al-Watan.
He however affirmed that security authorities will persist in organizing raids on all suspected election headquarters and cautioned all participants flouting the law to beware of arrests.
