This came during talks held between the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Seniora at Al Roudha Palace in Al Ain yesterday.
Welcoming the dignitary, Shaikh Khalifa wished continued growth of relations between the UAE and Lebanon in various fields. Seniora briefed President Khalifa on the current situation in Lebanon in the light of the recent political developments in his country.
Shaikh Khalifa assured UAE’s full support in the efforts and initiatives aimed at bringing stability in Lebanon. He expressed his hope that stability and security will surely prevail on the soil of Lebanon.
He stressed the importance of strengthening the role of constitutional institutions in Lebanon, and called on all the political parties in Lebanon to give priority to the nation’s interest and tackle the political crisis with prudence and wisdom. Seniora appreciated UAE’s stance with regard to Lebanese issues which he said reflected the prudent vision of the President.
The two leaders discussed the brotherly relations between the two countries and explored ways for enhancing them. They also discussed a number of issues of mutual concern.
