Li Lingbin, Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in the country, said that the $ 50 million donation given to the people of China by the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, comes at a time of utmost need in China, where six million buildings collapsed leaving millions without shelter.
"The Chinese government is very grateful for this generous offer, which is the highest donation given to China and is matched only by another $ 50 million from Saudi Arabia," she told Khaleej Times.
"The most important need in China is providing immediate shelter and working to rebuild the damaged infrastructure. There is a continuous need for international aid, as the shelter crisis will not be solved overnight. It will take anywhere from two to six years," she said.
